Flat Tires – oh noes! Part II
In my previous post, Flat Tires – oh noes!, I whined about my flat tires.
I probably could have found these tires cheaper elsewhere, but, to replace my two tires, it’s costing $300+. Yeah… and that’s not even including any alignment. Getting the tires aligned would be an additional $150. Pooper.
Flat Tires – oh noes!
Date: December 20, 2010
Weather: On-and-off pouring rain, 50 degrees
Situation: As I was driving home from work on my lunch break, I drove over a pothole. I saw it at the last second just before my front passenger-side tire went right over it. Although it looked like your regular-sized hole, it was apparently much deeper than it appeared to be. A HUGE *thud* resounded, and a few seconds later, a light on the dashboard lit up and a steady beep started to sound. Sure enough, after just a few seconds, I noticed that the car was leaning to the right… at first just a little, and then a lot. I figured I could at least make it off of the freeway, so I kept driving a bit, but the car was tilting too much, and I didn’t want to further damage the alignment.
I had to pull over to the shoulder about a quarter mile away from my exit. Called the hubby, who happens to have a bad fever right now, and asked him to come change my tire. He found me and immediately set to working on the tire. After a good 30 minutes, he replaces my flat with my spare, and we’re well on our way home.
A short 7-minute drive later, we get home, and I check the passenger side, only to see that my rear passenger-side tire is ALSO flat! $!#%@. Let’s say it again, shall we? $!#%@. That a-hole of a hole knocked out not one but two tires. Ugh.
Moral of the story? Nothing. But it would’ve been good if I had that Fix-A-Flat stuff on hand. I could’ve at least inflated the tire to get it to McLea’s right off of the freeway.
