Vegan Cigarette

Okay, okay… this post isn’t exactly about a regular tobacco cigarette but rather its electronic counterpart. From the information I’ve gathered (and from a few friends’ personal accounts), it has proven to help thousands of people make the switch from analogs. The electronic cigarette is a smoking alternative but not a cessation device… and don’t let the FDA catch you saying otherwise O.O

So how does it work, you ask. Well, the e-cigarette has three major components: the battery, the atomizer, and the refill cartridge. The e-cigarette uses a lithium-ion battery that can be recharged and will eventually need replacing. The atomizer is usually this spearhead- or round-shaped tip that attaches to the battery and is responsible for turning a liquid nicotine solution, otherwise known as e-liquid, into an inhalable vapor. The e-liquid is housed in the part called the refill cartridge, which resembles the orange-brown filter of a tobacco cigarette. One end of the cartridge has a tiny hole that you inhale through, and the other end is open and attaches to the end of the atomizer. Now that you know the anatomy of an e-cigarette, the next important part to discuss is what its benefits are. In comparison to a tobacco cigarette, the e-cigarette wins – hands down – in every possible way. The e-liquid usually contains no more than about 20 ingredients, most of which are flavorings. The main ingredients are water, nicotine, and propylene glycol. As far as I can tell by my research, the e-cigarette is not tested on animals… I couldn’t find any information on this whatsoever, and all I found were a bunch of spammy-looking sites.

A quick search for an electronic cigarette on Google will generate millions of results. Which one do you choose? I’ve done some additional research, including product reviews, to find out which ones, based on customer reviews and personal friends’ accounts, seem to be the best… which, of course, is subjective, but we won’t get into that one now… ;)

And finally…
The E-Smoke Cigarette:

You care more about the animals than you do people…

… is an argument against veg lifestyles I’ve heard quite a few times. “If only you would put half as much effort into loving people as you do loving animals” is another one. This makes me curious because the accuser is pretty much accusing the other person of not caring about people because they care more about the animals.

Two things:

1) Who’s to say that the veg is not as loving towards people as they are towards animals? Why is it either or and not both? As a vegetarian, I try showing as much kindness to people as I do animals, and I don’t try to hate people simply because I care for animals and vice versa.

2) Who cares? For one, the accuser doesn’t know what the defendant is feeling or where he/she really stands, and, second, if the veg really did care more for animals, then so what? Learn to agree on disagreeing. I might not agree, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
